Also researched and put together by Donia Stick & Pearl Rose, this is a collection of stories of Great Ashfield life during the Second World War, compiled to coincide with VE Day celebrations in May 2020, however, as a result of COVID-19 it was not possible to publish the book.

'FAMOUS FORMER RESIDENTS'
Violet Constance Jessop lived in Maythorn Cottage, Great Ashfield from 1950 to 1971. As a Stewardess on ocean liners and as a nurse during World War 1 Violet survived three shipping disasters, most signifcantly on the Titanic.
Her story is included in the village publication "Here but Not Here".
