QUIET LANES FOR GREAT ASHFIELD
In 2023 four lanes in Great Ashfield were designated Quiet Lanes.
To find out what Quiet Lanes are visit www.quietlanessuffolk.co.uk where you will find a wealth of information explaining what the Quiet Lanes Suffolk project is all about.
Essentially the aim of the Quiet Lanes is to preserve Suffolk's lanes for the enjoyment of all, and the website explains exactly what a Quiet Lane is, gives details of individual Parish stories, how they have benefitted and outlines the latest progress in the roll out of the Quiet Lanes initiative across the county. You can see on a map where Quiet Lanes are curently proposed - hopefully they are coming to a Parish near you, as the goal of the Quiet Lanes initiative is to have Quiet Lanes throughout the whole of Suffolk.
The website will help you to understand what Quiet Lanes are all about and what they have to offer to the Parishes which have chosen to designate some of their lanes as Quiet Lanes and, more importantly, what they can offer the residents of those villages.

QUIET LANES FOR GREAT ASHFIELD
As part of the process of designating lanes as Quiet Lanes it is necessary to consult with all the residents within the Parish where the lanes are proposed. A letter has been posted to all Great Ashfield villagers, and a copy of this consultation letter can be viewed by clicking the link on the left.
The proposal aims to be zero cost for the Parish Council thanks to QLS project grants and locality grants from Jane Storey (County Councillor) and Richard Meyer (District Councillor).
Everyone in the village is encouraged to visit the Quiet Lanes Suffolk website, read what Quiet Lanes are all about and then to have their say by emailing the Parish Council on greatashfieldpc@outlook.com.
Update May 2021
The consultation letter was distributed in March and feedback closed before the Parish Council meeting on 22 April. Thanks to everyone who made the time to provide responses. The majority of those responses were in favour of proceeding with the initiative.
The signage and costings have been confirmed to the QLS project team and they will arrange formal public notification via press and public notices.
The Highways consultation period has now started. A copy of the designation letter from highways is in the documents box.
If approved by Suffolk Highways then formal designation and signage should be completed by the end of July.
