Village Hall Committee

The Village Hall is run by a small committee headed up by the Chairman and Treasurer.

All members of the committee are volunteers who meet regularly throughout the year to consider all issues relating to the running and upkeep of the Village Hall for the benefit of the village and local community groups.

The Committee welcomes new ideas for community events and is always looking for volunteers to host the bar at village pub nights and to help out at other events during the year.

VILLAGE HALL PROJECT & IMPROVEMENTS for 2023 & 2024

In recent years the hall has benefitted from new toilets, new windows and front door, a ramp for easier access and gas central heating and some resurfacing work in the car park.

PROJECT : 'FUTURE 50'

As it is 50 years since the Hall was signed over to the village of Great Ashfield, the Committee feel that there is scope to make greater improvements to make it a more modern and welcoming space and is therefore seeking community grants and funding to modernise and upgrade the facilities on offer, works to include a shiny brand new kitchen and appliances, hall layout changes, improved access and various other building alterations to suit.

The Committee's plans were recently outlined in the 'LORD THURLOW HALL NEWS - Special Update' which accompanied the Spring 2023 Edition of the Great Ashfield Village News, to read more click here: Lord Thurlow Hall News - Special Update.

To further fund the works the Committee will be planning fund raising events throughout the year.

2024 AND BEYOND

January 2024, the kitchen area has been opened up and a brand new professional standard stainless steel kitchen installed, incorporating smart new cupboards sink and washing up area plus all new appliances: cooker & cooker hood, dishwasher, fridge/freezer.

The Bar has been moved and the bar area is now a much more user friendly space for entertaining and socialising.

A beautiful new Oak front door has been fitted and disabled access improved.

The Committee still have plans for other maintenance and refurbishment works.
